Fresh 80 Raid Rogue Talent Build
January 29, 2009 by Visin · 12 Comments
I am starting Heroic’s now and it needs a good raid build for my Rogue, what did I choose? You are about to find out. In World of Warcraft WotLK, there was a lack of great swords and for this, I have recently went to daggers. Daggers are faster than swords of course so it will proc your poisons faster and it which will increase DPS caused from higher poison damage. Below I will show you the first dagger raid build that I started with when I hit level 80 less than a week ago.
Mutilate Dagger Raid Build [51/13/7]
I chose this specific Mutilate build because it brought to me everything I needed in a raid specific build which is the following 3 elements…
1. Energy Regeneration - Focused Attacks allows me to regain 2 energy every time I land a critical hit which may not sound like a lot but it does add up when you 4 critical hits in a row easily. With Relentless Strikes you have a 20% chance with each Combo Point to gain 25 energy back on Finishing Moves.
2. Combo Point Stacking - With Seal Fate I have a 100% chance to add a combo point on every critical strike which is GREAT when it comes down to raids and all of the buffs you will have making this able to build up a 5 point Combo Point stack in matter of a few seconds! Also, with Ruthlessness you have a 60% chance with each Finishing Move to gain a Combo Point even adding to the value of this build.
3. High Damage Output - This build has all sorts of different ways to make sure you have high end DPS for the raid. You will be attacking with both daggers at once with this build using Mutilate and stacking poisons with insane speeds!
Assassination Tree:
5/5 Malice
3/3 Ruthlessness
2/2 Blood Splatter
3/3 Puncturing Wounds
5/5 Lethality
3/3 Vile Poisons
5/5 Improved Poisons
1/1 Cold Blood
5/5 Seal Fate
2/2 Murder
1/1 Overkill
3/3 Find Weakness
3/3 Focused Attacks
1/1 Mutilate
3/3 Turn the Tables
5/5 Cut to the Chase
1/1 Hunger for Blood
Combat Tree:
5/5 Dual Wield Specialization
5/5 Precision
3/5 Close Quarters
Subtlety Tree:
5/5 Relentless Strikes
2/2 Opportunity
As you could probably see by the way this talent build works is that you are going to be relying on your poisons to achieve maximum DPS. Try to keep up Rupture at all times so that you will always have that ticking on your bosses. Also it will be benifical on bosses to get a 5 point Slice and Dice up and then every so often refresh the duration of Slice and Dice with either Envenom or Eviscerate, this way you can have faster speeds during the WHOLE fight which will also improve your DPS!
I hope you enjoyed this little build share but if you are like me being a first time Dagger user you will learn it is not so easy jumping into things especially Naxxaramas being ill prepared with your Raid Rogue Talent Build, that would be insane right? Good luck and have fun with this build and if you have any questions just ask away!

5 Issues In Raids and How to Fix them
January 23, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment
Have you ever just been in a group with other people and for some reason things were not clicking and the result of that was keeping you from finishing that instance or raid? Well there are a lot of things that can go wrong in raid groups but I am going to go over 5 of them that I think are very important to keep the raid alive and fully functional.
1. No Strategy Here - Some things you will need to work on with a successful raid group is strategy and nothing you can do will get around it. Strategy has been used for aslong as anyone can ever remember and it will always be used (at least for some). A lot of raid groups will just attack the boss and treat it like it is a tank-and-spank when obviously there is a trick to it, that is why you wiped 4 times now.
2. But I Want That Chest Piece - There will always be the whining about gear if you have an immature raid of people and some people may just leave if you do not know them well. Mages arguing about Warlock gear and Hunters arguing about Rogue gear is always common but there are ways to combat this particular issue.
3. What Did You Say, Run WITH the Flames? - Lack of communication can be a downfall to any raid and since my raid’s are always people I know in real life I have got to the point of just calling them up before a raid. Ventrillo is the standard of voice communication in game these days and most guilds have a Ventrillo server you can use.
4. My Greens Will Work Just Fine - Gear. There is one factual thing in World of Warcraft that you can not get around, and that is gear. You must be properly geared for the raid you are planning to attend and you must make sure that it fits your class as well. Keep in mind for Rogue’s that you need more than just damage because sometimes Hit Rating is just as important.
5. So I’m NOT Suppose to Face Pull? - This last one may come off as a little harsh to some but then again some are just not fit to ever raid in World of Warcraft. Your raiders can not be stupid and they may have to be able to think out side of the box sometimes which some have a hard time grasping. So bring who you see fit but just make sure they are at least capable of following simple commands.
Raiding is a difficult procedure and nothing except time, experience and a few kind words of help and encouragement will ever prepare you for the onslaught of troubles that will be accompanied by the great riches of being able to be in a raid. Just keep your eye on the prize, be smart about your actions and be civilized and those epics will be as good as yours!

Impossible to get to 80!
January 23, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment
If you all have been keeping up from the previous posts on Visin getting to level 80 you will know that I am trying to do it by Friday at 1 PM server time, and it is 5 AM server time right now and guess what? The server shut down for 4 hours! OMG!
So yeah congratulations to me on getting to 79 but I did not have much time to come here to tell you as soon as it happened so I guess the server shut down was for a reason. Well when I was level 78 I had a friend that I ran some instances with and he has been a great tank ever since I was like level 74! So me and him ran like 5 instances last night and picked me up some drops that I could use for the Agility which in turn helps out my DPS.
To make a long story shorter, I have been questing like CRAZY and I have been doing everything possible to level in the shortest time thinkable. So I need 10 little bubbles/bars/little things that means I am getting closer to leveling and as soon as I was in the swing of things Blizzard had to bring Arenas back up which will take “no longer than 4 hours”, yeah right! When has Blizzard ever kept their word on anything?
Must Level In 4 Hours
By the time the server comes back up it will leave me with around 4 hours before our raid begins and my initial plan was to attend this raid Friday and I MUST do it, I have set this goal and it will kill me to make it fail. So as of right now I am in Icecrown questing which means I am on Thottbot looking up every single quest I will encounter before I level up. This raid better pay off because I am working my butt off on this thing, but I do want my little Rogue AoE as well, Fan of Knives sounds fun!
What do you all think? Do you think I will be able to do this in 4 hours? Do you think I should even be worried with it? Who knows? I just know I am going to try my hardest to make it, and if I don’t then I will be majorly upset!

78 Rogue LFG
January 22, 2009 by Visin · 2 Comments
So today I figured I would post to show you all how I have been doing on little ole’ Visin and how she is staying with the rest of the game. She has to be level 80 by Friday at 1 PM server time and as of right now I am level 78 with 3 bars completed! This is truly a race between my real life problems and my in-game problems, but I know I will manage.
Visin has been trying to get instances for Gun’Drak and Halls of Lightning for experience and a few armor pieces I need along the way of the epic path of getting to level 80. As you all know Friday is when we are running Vault and OS and I do hope I can dish out the 2,000 DPS that my guild leader expects of me and while picking the best raid build possible for my Rogue. Which brings me to another situation that happened today….
Terrible Experience As Dagger Build
You know being a Sword build from level 70 you will start to get curious to why you are not a Dagger build, and that is the reason I bought two Saronite Daggers from a guy today over Trade channel, got them both for a small price of 300 gold! So I grabbed my Daggers and picked the best PvE Dagger build that I could find/think of and I went out to test it, only if I knew…
The DPS was terrible! I was trying to play as Sword Rogue and somethings just felt wrong! I did not have Adrenaline Rush anymore and I did not have Blade Flurry or Riposte or Killing Spree, OMG! I was dishing out a measly ~500 DPS when I was level 77 which my Sword build got me around ~900 DPS at the same level, which was insane! I can not speak for everyone but I enjoy Sword Rogues more for PvE as the Major Glyphs are made more towards Sinister Strike (love the extra Combo Point from Critical Hits!).
Well, the server just restarted for us over at Aerie Peak [US] and I can not waste much time writing (sorry about that!) so I will be getting real life stuff out of the way while server is down, I will come back here soon to let you know on my updates as Rogue, thanks for reading and check back!

Ding, 77 and Cold Weather Training
January 20, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment
So at around 5 am I finally got to that next level which for me was level 77. Now Visin is the type of Rogue that doesn’t meddle with the little things until she is the best she can be, then she may put that extra bit of work into things. After hitting level 77 I had one thing on mind and that was to hurry up and get Cold Weather Training!
Dilemma; Epic Flying Mount
Between level 70 raiding all week and doing my best to make contributions to the guild to help out, I really did not have the time or gold to get that epic flying mount so that has had a little dampening on my 70-80 leveling of course but it will all come in due time as leveling is my key focus that I am not going to stray from. With my Mining and Jewelcrafting both below the skill of 200 and my interests in the professions dropping, I am thinking of dropping them for Skinning and Leatherworking!
Now with this Epic Flying Mount I would be able to fly around quickly and skin the entire world and max out my skinning in less than a day but unfortunately I am not going to have this luxury. I will be using my good ole’ trusty 60% flying mount to level my skills but that is fine as long as I hit level 80 by Friday.
Heroic Time is Imminent!
By Friday (January, 23rd) I am suppose to be level 80 in order to run Heroics with the rest of the guild which they are relying on me to get to 80 by then. I have been doing everything in my power to maximize my total XP/Hour and have been doing great my Zygor’s Guide even though every once in a while I try out my own techniques too. This Friday I have to do Obsidian Sanctum and The Vault, all of this when I first turn 80! It may not be a lot to most hardcore raiders but for me just turning 80 I may have my doubts with my DPS and raid potential.
My guild leader says he would like to me to get up to 2000 DPS by the time we are running Naxxaramas and I have read that my Hit needs to be around 16% so I can achieve maximum damage. Now I have been looking into the loot that the bosses will be dropping and I have not been seeing many great swords that I would love to grab but I have seen quite a few daggers, which I consider myself more proficient with swords than anything but I suppose we will see what happens this friday as far as raiding goes. -gulp-
5:46 AM - Logging off
Since I have done well tonigth and got to level 77, I feel that I should be able to sleep easily until later tonight when I seek out to level to 78 which by then I will write another post (quite productive aren’t I?). So look forward for another post tonight to see how this level works out for me and if anything comes up as far as my professions, you will be the first to know! So for Visin, I am out but will be back online after Tuesday maintenace and HOPEFULLY they issue 3.0.8 today…

Skeleton form skills on last boss of Drak’Tharon?
January 18, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment
A Rogue’s life does get kind of interesting you know, we think and we kill, thats about it, but I found something half way useful to most healers or anyone else. This may be already common sense to most but for some it will hopefully help some people out.
Tharon’ja will have more!
When the above is said all players will be turned into skeletons which will have their own sets of skills not normally known to players (at least I hope not). These skills are supposed to be used against the boss to slay him and he is relatively easy enough to take down but for you here is a little tip that may prove useful.
When in skeleton form you are able to open your skillbook (just like normal) and then cast spells like you normally do in World of Warcraft which may help you out some depending on your class or skills. Now this is nothing ground breaking or majorly helpful but it could interest some players and that is what I am here for, to interest the players.
Im… impossible! Tharon’ja is eternal! Tharon’ja… is…
After you have heard those magical words you will soon know that the boss is dead and that you have succeeded in life for just one more day. So go on and pat yourself on the back, you survived on of the easiest instances. If you would like to know anything else just feel free to contact us and we will be able to address anything that you have for us (hopefully).

Visin finds a friend!
January 17, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment
So I have been in the groove now since Monday when I got Wrath of the Lich King and I have been constantly leveling now and it seems like forever, so I decided to take a break. From going in everyday and mindlessly killing gobs and gobs of monsters y0ur little character may need a more “social” interaction or it may run away!
I got on my trusted Nightsabre and went for a little stroll and then I spotted someone I added to my friends list like a year ago it seemed (you know the one time deals where you add them and you never talk again?) and I wanted to kind of just mess with him because thats just what I do, right? I am a Rogue after all, I should be able to play tricks once in a while.
While chasing behind this man on horseback, I think he got the idea that I was out to follow him forever (it had been over 10 minutes by now) so he took CRAZY paths up and down Grizzly Hills and just started doing random jumps to try and lose me but to no avail as I was always one step behind him.
Later, (around 10 more minutes) he just suddenly stopped and said nothing, he just completely stopped, and it happened, he logged off. I have yet to see him get on (my friends list WILL tell me) and I think I scared him but if he only knew that I was writing about him today he may see that it was all a joke because to me, stalking is not an offense on World of Warcraft, it is a priviledge!
Also, kind sir, if you are there on the great internet, reading my work, please note that this is the same Visin from Aerie Peak [US] server, so you can come back online and we can be friends again and I will not stalk you anymore, Night Elf’s promise!

Move with Shadowmeld
January 17, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment
We all know how Shadowmeld works. It is the bad version of a Rogues Stealth that breaks if the player moves, but after this post you will know how to move while getting out of combat with Shadowmeld!
The Rogue has only one way to get out of combat unless you are a Night Elf then you have two ways. The first way of course is Vanish and the second way for Night Elf’s exclusively is Shadowmeld. Have you been in the situation where you knew you would die unless some big muscular man was there to save you? Of course not or that may sound weird, but if you thought you was going to die you would want to get out of combat, so if your Vanish is on cooldown then you can use the Night-Elfs Vanish, Shadowmeld!
/cast Shadowmeld
This macro that I use on Visin comes in handy for those times where I am being a bit too cocky and I have no alternatives than to “/getoutofcombatNOW” if you know what I mean. Anyways, the macro means you will have to be a Night Elf of course and you will have to have the brain of a College Professor in Ethiopia (heh). Now for the easy but yet oh so cool part…
/cast shadowmeld
/stopcasting
/cast stealth
Yeah I know, maybe this isn’t news to anyone but it’s at least useful in a lot of different situations. Meaning that instead of being limited to the basic “OMG! I can not move or I will break my form of Stealth” you can now move around freely and get to a spot that has less monsters so that you can once again save the day, you know, just like the Powerpuff Girls! (lol I am lame)

Did He Have a Brain?
January 12, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
So here I was (79 Rogue,) in Nessingwary’s camp in Sholazar Basin and this 80 Gnome Warrior takes a shot at me. So I poof and all the camp guards attack him. He runs, I follow, stealthed, and I get to watch one of the big river crocs have him for lunch.
He comes back later, while I happen to be stealthed, so I sap him and wander off.
One would think that even an Alliance Warrior would know better to attack the other faction in a neutral camp, where all the mobs are about the same level as he is.
Great fun.
