Running with a new guild

July 19, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment

First of all, before I jump into my story of the mysterious new guild I am hanging with, I would like to apologize for the lack of content here and content over at Azeroth Now. The reason why I have been absent with writing here is that I feel I would be letting you all down as my WoW subscription has been inactive, and that means boring content.

But now, things have changed!

I resubscribed my account and I am starting to get geared for Ulduaar. I am working with a web design company and that gives me freedom to do a lot more work online, which I am very thankful for. Anyways, back to the main story…

As you may or may not have known, I was with “Tel Seldarine” which is guild comprised of local friends that I have known forever, but things in all their personal lives made it where they could not raid like we need to, which lead to the disband of the guild. As this occured it lead me to search for a new guild, all lost and confused.

While in “Looking for Group” a player by the name of Cayana whispered me and asked if I want to run 10 Naxx with them, and I was all over that! Now, I am not going to bore you to death and tell you everything that happend in the run but needless to say, I enjoyed myself that night. I am going to run with them tonight actually at 5pm server time on Aerie Peak [US] and I hope to run with them weekly as they are all very nice people.

Now, is this a permanent guild for Visin? Is this going to be a new home for my lonely night-elf? I dont know yet but I hope to stay in contact with them as we run various raids, and maybe they will find a spot for me in their guild. Only time will tell what can happen next.

5 Issues In Raids and How to Fix them

January 23, 2009 by Visin · Leave a Comment

Have you ever just been in a group with other people and for some reason things were not clicking and the result of that was keeping you from finishing that instance or raid? Well there are a lot of things that can go wrong in raid groups but I am going to go over 5 of them that I think are very important to keep the raid alive and fully functional.

1. No Strategy Here - Some things you will need to work on with a successful raid group is strategy and nothing you can do will get around it. Strategy has been used for aslong as anyone can ever remember and it will always be used (at least for some). A lot of raid groups will just attack the boss and treat it like it is a tank-and-spank when obviously there is a trick to it, that is why you wiped 4 times now.

2. But I Want That Chest Piece - There will always be the whining about gear if you have an immature raid of people and some people may just leave if you do not know them well. Mages arguing about Warlock gear and Hunters arguing about Rogue gear is always common but there are ways to combat this particular issue.

3. What Did You Say, Run WITH the Flames? - Lack of communication can be a downfall to any raid and since my raid’s are always people I know in real life I have got to the point of just calling them up before a raid. Ventrillo is the standard of voice communication in game these days and most guilds have a Ventrillo server you can use.

4. My Greens Will Work Just Fine - Gear. There is one factual thing in World of Warcraft that you can not get around, and that is gear. You must be properly geared for the raid you are planning to attend and you must make sure that it fits your class as well. Keep in mind for Rogue’s that you need more than just damage because sometimes Hit Rating is just as important.

5. So I’m NOT Suppose to Face Pull? - This last one may come off as a little harsh to some but then again some are just not fit to ever raid in World of Warcraft. Your raiders can not be stupid and they may have to be able to think out side of the box sometimes which some have a hard time grasping. So bring who you see fit but just make sure they are at least capable of following simple commands.

Raiding is a difficult procedure and nothing except time, experience and a few kind words of help and encouragement will ever prepare you for the onslaught of troubles that will be accompanied by the great riches of being able to be in a raid. Just keep your eye on the prize, be smart about your actions and be civilized and those epics will be as good as yours!
